Recession? What Recession?
Radcliff and Fort Knox, Kentucky are experiencing unprecedented growth thanks to the ongoing Base Realignment and Closure (BRAC) transformation at the installation. More than 5,000 new jobs will be created on Fort Knox and an estimated 2,500 jobs will be created off post, resulting in $350 million in new payroll and over $1 billion in total payroll. The new Army employees will bring their families with them which mean that our area will welcome as many as 14,000 new residents.
The Fort Knox Army installation will be transformed from a largely blue collar workforce to one where highly educated, well paid Information Technology, Human Resource Management, Administrative Services and other white collar jobs are the rule. As new Army employees fill the jobs on post, their spouses and family members will be seeking employment as well, many of whom are educated and experienced in a variety of fields. Add the thousands of retired military who have stayed in our community and you've got a seasoned workforce with a strong work ethic and military values - Ready and eager to put their skills to use.
This growth has also resulted in millions of dollars designated by the state and U.S. government for improving and expanding roads, schools and other infrastructure. The end result will be that a great region will be even better prepared to meet future demands.
